County Census

I am pleased to report the second quarter County Census figures. You will note a 3.6% increase in membership with 9 Districts reporting an increase.

GLNE Charter Mark Presentation 2004

250 leaders and supporters from groups across the County attended the 2004 County Charter Mark Presentation held at Hargreaves Scout Campsite on Tuesday 20 April. The recipients were treated to food and drink and later in the evening, were presented with a 'Certificate of Excellence' for maintaining or increasing their membership over the last 12 months. Groups were presented their certificate by Dean Milton - County Commissioner, Alan Dennison - County Chairman and Brian Hilton - Deputy County Chairman. Peter Barnes - Chief Commissioner presented certificates to Leyton, Ilford NorthWest, Hornchurch and Chingford Districts who all managed to increase their membership this year.

'Wise Scouts bear gifts for sick Children at Christmas.'

News

Scouts brought a little Christmas cheer to those children who will unfortunately be spending Christmas in hospital this year when they visited Clover Children's ward at King George Hospital laden with Christmas presents.

Jack Petchey - New Vice President

It gives me pleasure to advise you that Jack Petchey has accepted my invitation to become a Vice President of our County. In his letter of acceptance he said:

"It is very kind of you to invite me to become a Vice President of the County of Greater London North East. I would regard it as a great honour to be associated with such a worthwhile organisation in this way. I accept with pleasure."
