Awards - Chief Scout Awards

Chief Scout

The highest award in each section

Each section has its own Chief Scout Award, the highest award for that section

The county organise a special awards ceremony twice a year, every year, for all those who have earnt their Chief Scout Award

Read on to find out how to notify County of your award and to receive details of the ceremonies

Do you have a member in your section who has recently gained the Chief Scout Award?

There are two ways you can submit details of youth members who have completed their Chief Scout's Award to ensure they are added to the database and invited to the next Chief Scout’s Award Presentation Evening at Gilwell Park.

  • Electronically: Visit the form at www.glne-scouts.org.uk/csa
  • Postcards: We will still be accepting the Chief Scout’s Award notifications postcards for those leaders who prefer this method, these should be sent directly to the County Secretary, Barbara Westcott as soon as the award is presented.

There is also a letter from the County Commissioner, Dean Jefferys which can be copied and given to the recipient with their Chief Scout's Award, congratulating them and explaining what happens next.

Further resources include details of the requirements for the Chief Scout's Awards for all sections and also a "Top Tips" document with ideas for making the award presentation special for the recipient.

For more information speak with your relevant Assistant County Commissioner.

Chief Scout Awards - Notification of Award to County

With Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Explorer Scouts now all eligible to gain the Chief Scout Award, we have a system of notifying County of individual achievement of this badge.

The procedure will be that when a member gains this award, the District will be responsible for presenting the badge to the member. At the time of completing the award, the relevant section leader should complete the form at www.glne-scouts.org.uk/csa or a postcard, which can be obtained from your local badge supplier / Local Scout Shop. Once completed, this card should be sent to the County Secretary in the envelope provided with the card. The information provided will enable County to keep a central record of members who have achieved the award and will be invited to a special presentation event at a later date. Details of presentations will be advertised later this year and members will receive personal invitations.

Official Photographs to order

Our Chief Scout Awards are attended by our resident photographer, Paul Bennett. Paul has introduced a new system where parents can order photographs of their Beaver/Cub/scout/Explorer/Network scout receiving their award directly from his website at www.pbpix.co.uk . Simply browse his gallery where he has set up a special scout award section. No youth member has been identified by name on his site and photographs can be ordered directly from his website.
