Hornchurch the Best for 2nd Year in Succession
County Swimming Gala
On Saturday 16th March, Hornchurch District entered the County Swimming Gala at Fulwell Cross Swimming Pool in Barkingside, under the careful supervision of Dan Aherne and Dean Jefferys. The night got off to a good start with the Cub Scout Section finishing in second place, just behind Epping Forest South. The Scouts went one better winning their Section, and so did the Ventures. As the final scores were totted up, it quickly became apparent that we had won - for an unprecedented two years in a row!
The Trophies and winners medals were presented by Dean Milton, County Commissioner for Greater London North East. As with last year, we will also be making our own presentation at the annual St.George's Day Parade to mark their achievement. Team Co-ordinator Dan Aherne has promised that if we win next year, then he will quite happily let the Scouts throw him in the pool! - now if that's not an incentive, I don't know what is! Once again, well done to everyone who took part and did so well.
