On Saturday 1st March 2008, the County held it first annual event, the Chess Competition for Scouts. 25 Scouts representing 7 Districts took part in the Chess.

I am very pleased to say it was a fantastic afternoon and the standard of play was very good. Ivor Summers from the Redbridge Chess Academy said he had never seen such a good standard of play and sportsmanship.

I would like to thank the three Officials from the Redbridge Chess Academy for the refereeing and support, I would also like to thank the Leaders from Ilford NorthWest District for doing the refreshments.

I would also like to congratulate the players and winners for helping making the afternoon so successful.
