Purpose of the role
You will lead the planning and delivery of GLNE’s events programme, creating opportunities for young people and adults across the County to come together, learn, and celebrate Scouting. We are looking to bring back some county classics like Kudadoo, the GLNE Gathering and Adult Awards nights.
Key tasks

Lead the Events Team, setting direction and coordinating volunteers.

Plan, organise, and deliver County events (e.g. camps, activity days, celebrations, and conferences)

Manage event budgets, resources, and logistics.

Support event safety, risk assessments, and compliance with Scout policies.

Work with the County Leadership Team to align events with priorities.

Recruit and support volunteers to help run events.

Communicate event details clearly to Districts and Groups.

Gather feedback and evaluate events to improve future delivery.
Skills and experience

Organised, with the ability to plan and prioritise.

Experience of leading teams or coordinating volunteers.

Confident communicator, both in person and in writing.

Problem-solver, calm under pressure.

Financial awareness for managing budgets.

Knowledge of Scouting is helpful, but not essential.
Time commitment

Flexible – some evening and weekend work, depending on the events calendar.

Regular online or in-person meetings with the Events Team and County Leadership.
Support

You will be part of the Support Team and supported by the Support Team Lead.

Training and mentoring are available.
Term
-
Initially three years, renewable by agreement.
