A Huge Congratulations to 2 incredible young people from Romford District Scouts on achieving the King’s Scout Award – the highest honour in Scouting

Your hard work, dedication, and leadership shine bright, and this achievement is truly well deserved.

“To achieve my King’s Scout Award, I completed a variety of components over a period of around five years. These included volunteering as a leader at 2nd Romford Scout Group, learning to drive, developing my running skills, and taking part in the Essex International Jamboree as my residential experience. I also undertook two 4-day expeditions—one practice and one qualifying—held in Dartmoor National Park and the Brecon Beacons. These activities contributed to the five KSA challenges, which I also completed as part of my Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award.

For the International, Community, and Values (ICV) section of the award, I participated in two international Scouting trips to Korea and Switzerland. I also engaged in community service by helping renovate my District’s campsite and took the opportunity to educate peers and younger Scouts about the diverse cultures and faiths I encountered through my travels and Scouting experiences.

The King’s Scout Award has equipped me with a wide range of skills and knowledge that will last a lifetime. It has boosted my confidence, encouraged me to aim high, and taught me perseverance in the face of challenges. Most importantly, it has shown me the true power of teamwork.

To Finalise my award, I presented everything I had done—and the lessons I learned along the way—to Romford District’s Explorer Section, in the hope of inspiring them to push forward and one day become the next generation of King’s Scouts.”

Ben (Romford Scouts)

“To achieve my King’s Scout Award, I completed a range of challenging and rewarding activities that pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow into the person I am today.  This included the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, a residential with new people, volunteering, and learning new skills—all of which tested my resilience, teamwork, and determination.

Receiving the award was an incredibly proud moment. It felt like a celebration of my entire Scouting journey, from Beaver to Explorers, filled with growth and unforgettable experiences. Being one of the first in Romford to achieve this award made the accomplishment even more meaningful and special.”

Molly (Romford Scouts)

Congratulations to both of you! We cannot wait to see you representing GLNE Scouts at next years Day of Celebration at Windsor Castle!
